Advanced Earth
Science
This course is an accelerated, inquiry-based class that explores topics in geology, astronomy, oceanography, and
meteorology. Students will complete a science fair project that addresses a topic of study. At the end of the semester, students
are required to complete the Virginia Earth Science S.O.L. test that will assess student mastery of the course topics.
Successful completion of the S.O.L. test and the class are required by the state of Virginia.

Anatomy and Physiology
This course is the study of the structural
and functional characteristics of living things. We will begin at the microscopic
level with atoms & cells and make our way to tissues, organs, and finally organ systems in order to fully understand the
human body. This course will include animal dissection as a means to learn body
structure and function. We will be studying each body system including the human
reproductive system for which parent permission will be required.

General Biology
This course emphasizes the processes of
scientific investigation through the study of living things in the classroom and laboratory settings. The nature of science
will begin our investigations into the study of life. We will also study the cell, the chemistry of life, DNA and heredity,
ecology and kingdom classification. At the end of the semester, students are required to complete the Virginia Biology S.O.L.
test that will assess student mastery of the course topics. Successful completion of the S.O.L. test and the class are
required by the state of Virginia.
