Advanced Earth
Science
This course is an accelerated, inquiry-based class that explores topics in geology, astronomy, oceanography, and
meteorology. At the end of the semester, students are required to complete the Virginia Earth Science S.O.L. test that
will assess student mastery of the course topics. Successful completion of the S.O.L. test and the class are required by the
state of Virginia.

Anatomy and Physiology
This course is the study of the structural
and functional characteristics of the human body. We will begin at the microscopic
level with atoms & cells and make our way to tissues, organs, and finally the organ systems in order to understand our
bodies. This course will include animal dissection as a means to learn body structure
and function.

General Biology
This course emphasizes the processes
of scientific investigation through the study of living things in the classroom and laboratory settings. The nature of science
will begin our investigations into the study of life. We will also study the cell, the chemistry of life, DNA, heredity, ecology,
and kingdom classification. At the end of the semester, students are required to complete the Virginia Biology S.O.L. test that
will assess student mastery of the course topics. Successful completion of the S.O.L. test and the class are required by the
state of Virginia.
